Shirley’s Gastric Sleeve is Coming Out
Lucy Hilton
11:30-12:00
This is a short play about the time I spent 12 hours in a hospital ward waiting for a small operation. In the room are four women, Shirley 74, Mary 45, Freida 88, and Holly 18. It is 8am. The women have not eaten for 14 hours and are waiting for operations. Shirley is getting her gastric sleeve taken out after ten years, her sister bought it for her birthday, “She’s always been rich, i’ve always been fat.” During this waiting period the women discuss dressing gowns, politics, television and Orangutans. It is a loving recount of the relationships between women of all ages. And who knows? There may be a dance break…

Salute to the Sun
Charlie Magee-Wood
11:00-15:30
S014
AI and machine learning are creating powerful systems that can think for themselves. Without the Sun we would not be alive, existence would cease. Computers that can be set on unlimited randomness, generation and loops are creating a new world, a new sun that is artifically intelligent and creative. I am balancing the argument between beauty and artifical intelligence through projecting an artifically intelligent sun. I am interested in how people feel, the psychological reactions, the influence of sound and light and how this can inform perceptual experience and space. A new sun is dawning over the horizon and is changing the world that we see. The age of data is upon us.

GWALLTANPREN
Isabella Elliott-Jones-Morris and Georgia Polly-Taylor
18:00-18:45
Promenade - meeting point is to the left of the smoking area
GWALLTANPREN is a piece inspired by alchemy and the raw ingredients / elements of earth. It incorporates physical story-telling with the Welsh language. It is site specific and promenade in its nature. Just as alchemy transforms the elements of a recipe, GWALLTANPREN transforms according to the materials it surrounds itself by. The performance is living theatre, its breath alters to fit the environment in which it is placed. In a post-pandemic world, this lesson of adaptability is key to our survival.

Fitcher's Bird
Chris Falcon
18:15-19:00
Based on a Grimm Fairytale, Fitcher’s bird is an ensemble piece that tells the story of three women who, having been abducted, plan their escape. It follows their way back into society, struggling to justify the means of their survival. This modern version explores questions of guilt, resolve and raises the question of how modern media changes and shapes not only our perception of events, but the narrative itself.

Undocumented
Akshita Brahma with muses credited in the exhibition
Rose Cafe
Undocumented is an act of love in the form of a public photography exhibit. It showcases artists of colour at RBC in a raw and real way whilst they work and relax to celebrate their passions and the art of being. Undocumented was curated to document the portion of the POC narrative that exists outside of struggle; rather centering joy and excellence, in a way that doesn’t feed the performative, diversity-quota-filling narrative, instead illustrating the breadth and beauty of our selves and our talents in this space, in this community, and in this moment of our journeys.
